Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max

The Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max is a large, seven-seat SUV launched by Xiaomi Auto in September 2026. It is designed for families, executives and long-distance travellers who want the space of an MPV, the driving characteristics of an SUV and the flexibility of an electric vehicle.

Its standout feature is that it combines a large rechargeable battery and electric drive with a petrol-powered range extender. This means it can drive on electricity for everyday journeys while using petrol to generate additional electricity when the battery needs replenishing.

Xiaomi markets the vehicle around three main ideas: exceptional cabin space, configurable seating and extended driving range.

How the range-extender system works

• Electric motors drive the wheels. The vehicle is propelled electrically rather than relying on its petrol engine to drive the wheels in the conventional way.
• The battery powers normal driving. You can recharge it using compatible external charging equipment.
• The petrol engine generates electricity. When the battery's charge is low, the range extender can generate electricity to support continued driving.
• Combined range reduces charging dependence. With sufficient petrol and battery energy, long-distance journeys are possible without relying exclusively on charging stations.

This is different from a conventional hybrid, where the petrol engine can directly propel the vehicle. It is also different from a pure battery EV such as the Xiaomi SU7, which has no petrol range extender.

Performance and handling

The N90 Max's dual-motor all-wheel-drive system produces a published peak output of 310 kW, equivalent to approximately 416 mechanical horsepower. Xiaomi quotes a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 5.9 seconds.

Its suspension combines a double-wishbone front arrangement, multi-link rear suspension, five-level adjustable air springs and continuously variable damping. These features are designed to balance ride comfort, body control and handling for a large SUV. 

Charging note: Xiaomi's launch material and automotive reporting describe rapid DC charging, including a claim of approximately 285 km of added range in 15 minutes under suitable conditions. Actual charging time depends on charger power, battery temperature, state of charge and the vehicle's charging curve.

Exterior design and dimensions

The SkyNomad N90 Max has a long, spacious SUV body designed to accommodate three rows without sacrificing too much luggage capacity.
